Advice for the next Governor

We worked with collaborators to provide proposed commitments on schools and climate for the next Governor of Massachusetts. In addition to this guidance, we also curated model efforts and information on current relevant legislative efforts in the Commonwealth.

Our proposed commitments include:

  1. Commit to providing all students in Massachusetts access to public K-12 school facilities that have clean and healthy indoor air.

  2. Commit to transition Massachusetts public K-12 school buildings off fossil fuels by 2040.

  3. Commit to clean and healthy transportation for all students and school communities.

  4. Commit to provide all students with climate change education that addresses causes, consequences, and solutions to prepare young people for life and careers in the green economy.

  5. Commit to support every school district in developing climate resilience plans that protect in-person learning time and enhance community resilience.

  6. Commit to enable every school and district to partner with local agriculture in food service and in curriculum.
