Schools are Electrifying!

On November 16th, we joined forces with the Massachusetts Building Electrification Accelerator, Massachusetts Climate Action Network (MCAN), and Mothers Out Front Massachusetts to talk to municipal representatives, advocates, and others about the opportunity to electrify our schools.

Pip Lewis of HMFH Architects showcased the new Josiah Quincy Upper School, an all-electric school in the heart of Chinatown that has to contend with some of the worst air quality in the state.

From Talia Fox, with the Town of Arlington, we heard about the “Air Quality and Electrification Master Plan” under development for their portfolio of existing schools. Every district should be engaged in this kind of planning so that we have a roadmap for making investments through time that align with an all-electric future.

Their work is inspirational and offers lessons for many other districts across the state.
