In Conversation with John King Jr. at The Broad Center Virtual Forum 2022

Last week, UndauntedK12 co-founder Jonathan Klein joined former U.S. Secretary of Education John King Jr. at the Broad Center at Yale’s annual forum to discuss the intersection of the education sector and climate action. Jonathan spoke about being radicalized as an adult chaperone with his daughter and thousands of other young people at the September 2019 climate strike. As a result of that experience, Jonathan co-founded UndauntedK12, in part, to activate and support what he calls “a generation of adults with extraordinary formal authority to respond to young people’s call to action.”

Secretary King called the education sector to lead on green infrastructure as well as teaching and learning about climate science. “We can’t just pass this problem along to future generations,” he said. “There’s no question they will live with the consequences of the choices we’ve made, but we ought to be making very different decisions at every level.

During this conversation, Jonathan introduced UndauntedK12’s Climate Solutions Center. This hub has basic resources, technical help for district leaders, model plans and policies, as well as information on public opinion related to the climate crisis.
