Our Statement on the 2022 Massachusetts Climate Bill

July 21, 2022

BOSTON, MA — UndauntedK12, a national nonprofit supporting climate action in America's K-12 public schools, reacted today to the 2022 Massachusetts Climate Bill

“With the latest climate bill, Massachusetts legislators reaffirmed their commitment to addressing the climate emergency and this time, they recognized the important role of our schools,” said Sara Ross, a co-founder of UndauntedK12. “We need our schools to be climate-adapted places that are healthy for students, teachers, and staff.  Schools are big infrastructure. There is no pathway to reaching our climate goals that does not involve our schools. And getting fossil fuels out of schools will not only make air healthier and enhance school safety, it will also protect school budgets from the rising cost of natural gas. With the passage of this provision, the state can develop standards for healthy, green schools and plan to equitably transition away from fossil fuels.”
