In 2023, St. Paul Public Schools District installed its first ground-source heat pump system for heating and cooling in the district, marking a significant step towards their goal of reducing emissions by 45% by 2030. For the first time, Johnson High School has air conditioning in its classrooms, and it’s been game-changing for students. Since installation, the school has reported fewer heat-related illnesses and improved student wellbeing. With two additional ground-source heat pumps under construction and future solar solar panels installations planned, the district looks forward to substantial reimbursements, meeting their emissions reductions goals, and improving student learning environments.
