We’re asking Gov. Newsom to commit $25M. Will you join us?

Please read our group letter to California’s budget leaders here

We’re urging Governor Newsom and leaders in California to invest in a renewed and far-sighted vision for how we will ensure every school campus performs its most critical function: providing a safe, healthy, and inspirational space for children to learn without disruption.

Expressed in the form of a master plan, such as those we have laid out for early learning and care, higher education, farm to school, and environmental literacy, the vision for California’s public school infrastructure should align funding streams and technical support toward three goals:

  1. Reducing emissions from school buildings in alignment with California’s goals of reducing emissions by 40% by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality no later than 2045;

  2. Increasing school facilities’ and grounds’ resilience to climate-related disruption; and

  3. Positioning school infrastructure to support the state’s core educational mission of promoting student health and well-being and preparing students for careers in the green economy and to shape sustainable communities.
