We wrote to California’s budget leaders to urge them to take action in this year’s budget to improve the climate resilience of our school facilities and grounds.

Our team at UndauntedK12 has developed proposals around three opportunities within the state’s 2022-23 budget:

  1. Ensuring that one-time 2022-23 state education funds for school infrastructure are invested with clear standards and expectations for emissions reduction and resilience to climate-impacts.

  2. Develop a statewide master plan and roadmap for climate-resilient schools buildings and grounds that aligns funding and state support to LEAs.

  3. Increasing capacity within County Offices of Education to provide technical assistance to LEAs to advance climate resilient school infrastructure and student climate literacy and preparation for green economy careers.
